Pico Step-In Leather Harness — for Cavapoos, Cockapoos & Small Doodles
Why we chose it
Curly-coated dogs are difficult to harness well. Most designs press into the coat behind the front legs, and after a few weeks you find matting where the strap sits. The Pico was the only step-in harness we tested that puts a wide leather panel across the chest instead of a narrow strap — the pressure spreads, the coat stays flat, and there's nothing to tug over a Doodle's head.
We carry it in Sky, Sand and Earth. William Walker produces it in darker colourways too; we don't stock those, because they disappear against a cream or apricot coat.
Sizing for Cavapoos and Cockapoos
Measure the chest at its widest point, just behind the front legs — over the coat, not tight.
- Size 2 (35–44 cm) — smaller Cavapoos, roughly 3–5 kg
- Size 3 (39–52 cm) — most adult Cavapoos and Cockapoos, 5–8 kg.
- Size 4 (45–60 cm) — larger Cockapoos and small Labradoodles, 7–12 kg
Bailey, the Cavapoo this shop is named after, wears size 3 in Sky — she's photographed above.
If your dog sits between two sizes, take the larger one. A groomed coat measures differently from a coat three weeks out.
